Here's my recipe for Brandied Figs:
Figs
Half a lemon
Sugar
Brandy
Weigh the figs and place the them in a saucepan. Slice a lemon as thinly as possible and put on top.
Cover with their weight in sugar and cook over a low heat for about 45 minutes.
Place the figs and lemon in a sterile glass jar, add some of the syrup and pour brandy on top!
Cover and keep for winter!
To serve: toast some bread, slather it with mascarpone cheese and put a fig on top.
The brandy left-over when you have finished the figs can be used over ice cream, or use it replace part of the liquid when baking a cake or pudding. Or make a sauce for desserts by whipping some into yoghurt.
Just use your imagination and don't be afraid to experiment.
