I would be grateful for any suggestions on a suitable wine club in auckland where I could learn about wine whilst there would be some degree of socialising?

I'd like to hear of any too. we're in the eastern suburbs. My husband and I went regularly to one in Sydney when we lived there but have found nothing to match it here. We've only found stores doing the odd tastings but nothing special. If anyone reading this wants to start one, the one we went to in Sydney had a purpose built bar in the middle of the shop. Tastings were generally free (but we wouldn't have minded paying as they were fabulous evenings) and accompanied by finger food. The winemaker would usually be there too to tell us a bit about the wine and then of course, we'd drink like fish and buy accordingly...bliss!! Anyway, back to reality...yes please, tell us too if you track something down!

HI, I've stumbled across a new site launched called Lovewine - www.lovewine.co.nz - which is great and a community for people like us.

I think most wine shops run the occasional wine tasting and some have their own wine club. Worth asking when buying your next bottle.

I do one a month in my shop, which is lightly tutored, and we always open something at weekends. The main thing is we can tell you intelligently about the wine as well. This month's tasting was North American wines, which we opened different wines from round the US. The highlight was Stag's leap Cask 23 Cab Sauv, which was the wine that beat the French in the film 'Bottleshock'. One of the best reds I've tried this year.

North Shore Wine and Food Society is wine club is based on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. The club's logo represents wine and food and inside the glass is a symbol of the North Shore and Auckland. It is the best club for learning about degree of socialising.
