Cider from apples - 'Kingston Black', 'Stoke Red', and 'Dymock Red' English apples
Perry from a specific type of pear - Blakeney Red
Pear cider a cider-style drink flavoured with pear concentrate

No need to use the term "apple cider" as you can only make cider from apples

Um, so what is the pear cider, a cider-style drink that you mention in the line above the one about cider being made ONLY from apples?

Calling perry pear cider annoys me as well. It's just ignorance from marketing people who have manged to get this into the common language. In my shop we advise people of the difference, many of whom didn't realise. Strickly speaking there is no real cider produced in NZ as I believe that those apples aren't available in NZ.
