If you're like me, you are always cutting out interesting recipes but never really knowing where to put them.
Well, I often find that the first couple of months of a new diary are relatively empty, then the pages fill up as the year kicks in.
So, I fill those empty pages with the recipes I've cut out!
That way, I have them to refer to throughout the year, and if I loved them, i just transfer them to the next year's diary.
(This only works of course, if your diary is not full of appointments in January/february...If it is, pick a month that's quiet for you and use that!)
Just quietly, I think it's a clever and practical idea :-)

I bought a few of those folders with plastic sleeves in them - great to keep recipes in when you tend to splatter food all over the show when you cook. I keep copies of things I'd like to try one day but havn't got round to yet (currently filled to over-exploding and loose pages everywhere)!
I also keep a folder on my computer where I copy recipes into a word format and then save them. Very useful for when people ask for a recipe to be PM'd to them as they're all in one place if someone else asks for it too.

There is also the alternative of OneNote if you have MS Office and like collecting recipes fronm the internet. Simply highlight what you want and click on the 'send to OneNote' icon in the toolbar. You do need IE Explorer, though. I have Firefox and after highlighting what I want, I copy and paste it to OneNote, having transformed the 'Work' Notebook into a recipe book.

Don't you find the recipes in the plastic leaf fall to the bottom. I have been looking at what to store my recipes in and look at plastic leaf, but if I only have a small recipe it falls to the bottom or ends up on a weird angle. Thought about maybe a photo album with the sheets that lift up then stick down, but no good if you have a two sided recipe Any suggestions? Currently I have them in a folder that has a flap along the bottom that I can tuck them all into, but have to go through everything to find one I want. I'm not a fan of recipes on the computer, I do have them but always end up printing them up and taking them to the kitchen anyway.

I also store all my recipe cut-outs in plastic sleeve folders. We get plenty of reading into this household which is on A4 and, once read, will end up in the rubbish bin, so I use these A4's to arrange recipe cut-outs on and then just dab a spot of glue or fold a piece of cellotape on the back of each recipe cut-out and affix it to the A4, then slide the A4 into the sleeve. You get two A4's of recipes back to back in each sleeve. I'm on my 5th plastic sleeve folder of recipes would you believe and I've got a ton of recipes in each one. Mine are put in willy-nilly/mixed categories fashion, but it's funny how you know which folder a particular recipe is located in.

Dawn.

I stick them in a large note book, and if I use one from the internet ie foodlovers I do print it out and if I like it put it in. If I upgrade to a laptop or Ipad I may well use this directly saving the printing, but I do quite like my beaten up books with notes on them and some handwritten recipes and some cut out. If the recipe is never made I tend to remove it after some time although there are some that must be 15 years old that have still never been made, poor neglected recipes!!

I also use a Clearlite folder (60 sleeves) but use one sleeve for each category eg soups, pasta, chicken, cakes etc. If I get too many in one sleeve I split further eg trifles/baked desserts. The cuttings are all loose, so when looking for something to make, I pull the category out and browse through what I want. This way it's easy to discard ones I no longer want and it doesn't take long to manage (no glueing etc).

I've used clearfiles, ring binders and a "my recipes" file but have ditched all those in favour of a recipe box which I've been using successfully for over a year! I got it through a Phoenix card dealer, it's a great size, has useful dividers and sits in easy reach on the bench. I've also laminated recipes that are frequently used.
