To save time later, and for convenience, I...
break newly purchased garlic bulbs into their cloves.
grate newly purchased fresh ginger root and free flow freeze it.
divide newly purchased tomato paste (glass jar one) into 1 tbspn lots onto tray and freeze.
What habits do you have for convenience and future time saving?

cut up whole pumpkins and roast and freeze for use in soups. Wash, shred and steam silver beet, kale etc and freeze and/or dehydrate. by the way, garlic stores better as entire bulbs. once separated, they will dehydrate more quickly. however, I do crush and dehydrate my garlic to make garlic powder/granules and also mix fresh crushed garlic with olive oil and freeze in silicon ice cube trays, turn out and store in ziplock bags.

This is something I would like to do that a good friend of mine does every week. In a food processor she slices and dices all the vegetables she needs for the entire week including carrot sticks for lunches. She then puts them in separate containers in the fridge ready for the slow cooker, lasagne, curry, stir fry.

Pre-preparing vegetables so many days ahead does leave me with a concern about the loss of vitamins over that time but I guess this is mitigated by the fact that at least it means they're eating those vegetables rather than resorting to eating something else quick and easy but not so healthy.

*I buy the 1kg block of cheese especially when its on special and grate in my food processor and put into bags ready for anything.
*Ill often cook a whole chicken - simmering in water, aromatics ect and use the cold chicken for all sorts of things over a few days - sandwiches, add to soups and salads. Ive also got a lite stock out of the cooking process.
*Having mashed potato in my fridge is another time saver - you can do so many things to it to whip up a delicious side dish or meat/fish topper.
Mix it with mustard and and serve with sprouts
Mince and fish pie topper
Potato and gravy
Hash/smash - pan fried
Mix through cooked cabbage or spinach
Add to soups to thicken
Make potato balls/croquettes

Make stock and freeze ready for soups. Same with sauces for shakshuka and pasta. I always have chilli of some kind in the freezer. to top baked potatoes with, have with cornbread, eat in burritos or enchiladas etc.
prep my porridge for the next day the night before so all I have to do is turn it on in the bleary eyed morning.
