Scotch fillet is my favourite with eye fillet coming a close second. I havent bought it in a while and thought I would treat my partner and I on Valentines night.
I was shocked at the prices.
I went to Farro Fresh and on sale it was $48.99 per kg (packaged up so 2 pieces cost me $22), they had non sale Scotch that was a lot higher and Eye fillet for $68.99 per kg. WOW maybe Im out of the loop with meat prices?
It was delicious however, from Taupo and grass fed.
Your thoughts...

Supermarket grade eye fillet here in Warkworth is $49/kg. At Pak N Save in Albany, I want to say it is about $35-39/kg. Really frustrating as it is my favourite cut and I can no longer afford to buy it, except on the very, very rare occasion I am making dinner just for myself. Within the last 8y I recall buying it for $29/kg at Pak N Save.. that's quite a leap.

Hi Vanessa45 and Jenna - this is the butcher near me here in Adelaide - in the 'burbs. They are a proper butcher shop - ie cut up the carcasses themselves, rather than buying it in already cut up; and have a good reputation particularly for their steak. I'll be interested to hear how prices compare, as I think beef is expensive here, and nearly fainted at the prices you quoted lol.

Edited to add: (me having a bit of a rant ) and why the big deal here and perhaps over there, about saying the beef is from grass fed animals? They should be eating grass, that's what cows/steers eat, not whatever they get in a feedlot.
