Strawberries and Sumo Mandarins
September 08, 2017 01:01AM
I bought some strawberries (Australian) yesterday as they were $3 a tub and looked fabulous.
They were absolutely deliciously sweet and perfect.
While I know that we will have our own fruit in a month or so it was such a welcome treat to eat perfectly ripe sweet berries at this time of year and the price was fine.

Also on the subject of fruit has anyone tried the Sumo mandarins? They are enormous and a bit wrinkly skinned.
Supposed a cross with an orange and a mandarin of some sort, easy peel and no pips.
My kids are divided as to whether they like them and the fruit I peeled this morning did have some grapefruit characteristics as well.
I am not sure I want the kids to like them too much as they are currently around $3 per piece. I only bought a couple to try.
