I use the grated zest in curry pastes and in a Kaffir lime posset. You can use the zest instead of ordinary lime zest but be aware that the flavour is stronger and more perfumed so be discreet.
There usually isn't much juice in the fruit and what there is is bitter and very acid, so use sparingly with ordinary lime juice to enhance the flavour - say a tsp for every tab of lime juice.

I agree, and in much food writing Makrut is the usual description. It will take a while for the change to become established though.
