500g beef mince, 1 egg, enough flour to bind (anything from 2 tbspns to ΒΌ cup).

After this, things like herbs, chopped onion, etc, can be added if wished.

I sautee my onions in a little butter and garlic first!! then add to the mince with an egg. Worchestire sauce and herbs etc.
Delicious!

I know somebody that puts sweet chilli sauce in her hamburger mix to give the patties more flavour.

I have tried various recipes for burger patties, but keep coming back to this one which is made up but hard to get wrong.
750 - 1 kilo prime beef mince
1 egg
good squirt watties tomato sauce
1 tablespoon dark soya sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons maggi beef stock powder
Mix all these together in a large bowl with your hands. Cover and place in the fridge for 1/2 hour for flavours to combine. I dont add any breadcrumbs and find they form well into patties.
I often cook up one small patty to test the flavour, and season more if required.

We love onions in our burgers also but prefer to caramelise them separately and add to the burger when assembling. They give great flavour!

I love the way a recipe that Alison Holst has in one of her cookbooks
It has in the recipe
Minced beef
Fresh breadcrumbs
Milk
Beef Stock
Worcestershire sauce
Garlic Salt
I usually make these and leave them in the fridge for a hour to firm up.
