Hi Bas, what brand is your pressure cooker? I couldn't quite understand the letters you gave on the site. JANBas wrote:

Hi LynThere is a shop in Hamilton called "the Appliance shop" and yes they do have the ubber rings. Give them a ring on 07.8381691 with make and model number etc as they can post it to you if not in Hamilton. I had to take my Kenwood in yesteday and whilst there they were selling a ring seal for a pressure cooker. Hope this helps.

Hi Lyn
I too have a SEB cooker and a little while ago I wanted to know if there was anywhere that I could get information about them. I discovered that there is a web site called www.groupeseb.com. I'm pretty sure that I located an agency in Australia from that so perhaps that could be a possibility if all else fails.

I happen to have the same one that has the hissing and spinning thingy on top of it. Actually you don't need the original manual because any pressure cooker recipe will work with it. I had an original guide which was in french because I bought it there. That was ok because I am a french-American. As long as you don't fill it past 3/4's and as long as you have a relatively new rubber ring on the inside of the lid you'll be fine.

Try this website for heaps of information about pressure cookers. Tefal is made by SEB, so the information here should be relevant to your queries.

I have the SEB manual with recipes but the directions are very clear on cooking whole grain rice--i.e., brown rice, brown basmatti rice, etc. After boiling the water and adding rice and salt/pepper, you tighten down the lid. What temp do you set your burner? The directions indicate that you take the rice off the burner/flame once the valve begins to rotate but no temp. You are to leave the valve/lid on for 6 minutes. However, the rice was not cooked enough. Also, the portion of rice to water was: 1 cup rice to 1and 1/2 pints water. Please advise if you cook whole grain/brown rice.

I collect old cook books and have a first edition (1947)" "Pressure Cookery" How to cook with any type of pressure pan." It gives illustrations of different types, but doesn't give brand names. It is an American publication so contains recipes for raccoon and squirrel.
[Cut raccoon in serving pieces or sections to fit the pan. Flour, brown, season, add water and cook. If tenderness unknown (how would you know?) it is well to add a tablespoon of vinegar to the water or use pickling liquor instead of water. Cook 60 minutes at 15 lbs pressure.] Does one shoot or trap a raccoon?
Anyway, anyone who wants to borrow this fascinating book may do so. Just let me know.
