Something gone wrong in the forum?
October 04, 2017 03:18AM
Instead of clicking on a thread title, I click on Last Post because, as far as I remember, it used to take me directly to the last post. In the last few days though, it doesn't. It just takes me to the start of the thread, which means I have to scroll down to the bottom.

If this is truly a new forum error and not just a brain warp on my part, I'm wondering if it could be fixed..................

Yours hopefully
J1

Oh, I've just spotted the other thread "Is It Just My Computer" which says the same thing..................

J1, I've still got this problem and, like you, I find it quite cumbersome to scroll to some of the rather long posts till I get to the bottom. Do you by chance use and apple computer like me?

Your keyboard should have a 'Home' and 'End' key, which is what I use. I hit the end button to take me to the end then scroll up to the unread posts, then when I've finished I hit the 'Home' key to take me back to the top where I can select a different topic or change forums.

Having said that, if I click on Last Post, it takes me to the last post. No problem there for me.

Hi Chris, no I don't have Apple. I've realised I get the same as what Barbara Anne said - "the little blue whirly thing at the top of the screen going round and round" and it does eventually go to the last post as she says. The blue whirly thing is the loading page symbol and it stops whirling once the page is fully loaded. Unfortunately, something has recently gone wrong with the foodlovers website because loading a page - any page at all of the website, not just the forum pages -- is now taking approximately 15 seconds, which it shouldn't be doing. So if we wait 15 seconds for the loading page to finish, it will then take us to the last post. But of course that's too long to wait. So something has mucked up the loading of the foodlovers website pages and it's struggling to complete the task.

Lorna, I guess some of us like to use Last Post instead of the Home and End keys because Last Post is accessible by the mouse and it means we can zoom around the Foodlovers Forum without constantly having to swap from mouse to keyboard.

Oh sorry for this, let me go to Ian and see if he can fix it.
Apologies.

That's strange because it doesn't happen on my computer. I did have a problem over quite a long time with just one of the threads which included photos in the thread, but that doesn't even happen now. Odd!

Dawn.

Lorna, you once gave me that advice and it worked a treat. However, that was on my old Dell laptop. I can't see this function on the Apple which I now have. I am still familiarising myself with it. Perhaps an Apple user here knows what keys to use to achieve this. I can't spot anything obvious unfortunately.

This annoying problem still persists - Helen, did you have any luck identifying the cause?

Barbara Anne

Yes, I've started looking once a week instead of every day because I can't be bothered dealing with it.

I find it interesting that only some of us have this problem. Very annoying, particularly since it is relatively recent.

It's ok here. About a 2 second delay which one can live with!
