Huawei Page comes up....
November 09, 2018 03:35AM
A question if someone can put any light on this,,when I go into foodlovers and then click onto either the food page or non food...before the page comes up I get another page from HUAWEI telling me to update configuration....is this related to foodlovers or something random...either way do I need to take notice if not how do I get rid...
Also while on a random subject my, is it called the https line, tells me I am on an unsecure site...You can tell I am not to technologically savvy and too old to ever hope to become savvy, so if anyone can throw some light on my questions I would be ever grateful.

Thanks in advance...Jan

Gee whizz Jan, thank you for asking the HUAWEI (who are we?) question as I have the same problem.

We went onto Spark wireless broadband a year or more ago and I have no idea what password we used when we switched to it but HUAWEI is the maker of the wireless box/modem which sits near a window to enable the wireless broadband signal. Its only in the past few months that HUAWEI often comes up on my screen and asks for the update but as far as I can see it's only when I click on Foodlovers and I wonder why this is too and I don't know how to deal with it either and in any case I cannot remember what password we used when our son set our wireless broadband up in the first place.

Some kind Foodlover will know the answer and help us I'm sure.
Regards,
Dawn.

Jan, you're never too old to learn new technology, especially if you have a SeniorNet group operating near you.

I have recently upgraded (??) to VDSL and also have a new Huawei modem but I don't get the message you seem to be seeing. Perhaps mine doesn't need updating yet. I suggest you get in touch with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) as they are the ones that probably supplied you with the modem, and ask them what you should do. If any action is necessary, they will talk you through it. Also Dawn, the password is usually in the instructions for how to set-up the modem. These should always be kept in a safe place just in case you need to ever reset it. However, it's possible your son may have changed it, in which case you will have to ask him.

Re the secure site, I'll try and explain it: you only need worry about this if you are going to be doing something online like internet banking or divulging your personal details. I can't remember if the Foodlovers Log-in page is secure or not. Any site that is secure has https in the first part of the web address in the address bar. I see with modern technology that it is deemed no longer necessary to type the http part of a website, so that is why your address bar in the forums is showing the 'Not Secure' warning. And this is why we have user names so that our real names and email addresses do not show to everyone who uses these forums.

I hope that hasn't confused you more. If you need any clarifaction, just ask.

Thank you Lorna from me also..I was talking to SPARK last night and asked about this huawei page but the lady I was talking to could not help me so perhaps I will go through another department... I'm just relieved that it isnt something "evil" lol!! and amazing how there was another food lover having the same problem..not the fist time that I have asked a question and someone it seems was waiting for the answer to the same problem, you think you are the only one that has it.
Thank you FOODLOVERS.
