Teflon can even be in dental floss.

Colgate dental floss contains Teflon. It's listed on their cardboard packaging by its chemical name - Polytetrafluoroethylene or the acronym PTFE. See [www.buzzfeednews.com]

Very sobering video, J1. Thanks for posting the link. I have only one saute pan that has a non stick coating, the rest is stainless steel, enamel and cast iron. However, we just don’t seem to be able to escape teflon. Looking now for an alternative to Colgate dental floss although we mainly use dental brushes anyway.

Another reason to avoid non-stick pans - contributing to liver disease in children. The link's article includes the statement:
"Examples include perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as "forever chemicals" used in nonstick cookware and food packaging, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) used as flame retardants in furniture and infant products. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals interfere with hormone and metabolic systems in people. Several experimental studies have shown that exposures to these chemicals can lead to liver injury and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; however, until now, the potential effects of prenatal mixture exposures to these chemicals have not been studied in humans."

Summary: The growing incidence of a potentially cancer-causing liver disease in children is associated with prenatal exposure to several endocrine-disrupting chemicals, researchers report.

Chris, re the dental floss, the Do Gooder dental floss has been the best one I've found. There's a silk version or a bamboo charcoal version. They come in a little glass container with metal lid and you can then buy refills. You can get it from some Countdown stores, otherwise Healthpost is one online place that sellls it, e.g.
