Re: really good corn fritter recipe..... - 15 years ago
I agree with Judy, I think Annabel Langbein has the nicest recipe for fritters. In my humble opinion its the adding of soda water that makes difference from others I've tried.by Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Lately, I've Discovered........ - 16 years ago
Lately I've discovered life is too short to sweat over the small stuff. Due to family I spent 22 weeks in NZ last year leaving my husband & son to fend for themselves. The washing would NOT have been hung out to my desired way, nevertheless during my absence it must have gotten dry, so now when hubby offers to hang it out I don't go out 15 minutes later and hang things as I prefer.by Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: How have you stored your wedding gown? - 16 years ago
My wedding dress has been hanging in the wardrobe covered with a clear drycleaners plastic bag for the past 26 years. It still fits, still the same colour. Only thing I will admit to is not being one of these people who MUST close the sliding wardrobe doors.by Sharon S - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Falafel flop, they fell apart - 16 years ago
Dear Kathie I can't stand broad beans either but blitzed up with everything else added they are ok. If I can eat 'em so can you (unless you have an allergy) Regards to chickpeas I soak them overnight, drain, throw them in a saucepan with plenty of cold water, bring to the boil, put lid on, reduce heat to a steady but not ferocious boil for 30 mins, then add salt and boil same heat for 10by Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk

Hi Lyn I used this over a green salad not long ago, thoroughly enjoyed it and i'm a mayo-girl from way back. 1/2 cup fresh orange juice ¼ cup olive oil 1 teaspoon grated orange rind ½ teaspoon French mustard chopped fresh herbs ( used mint and probably about 2-3 tablespoons) lashings of freshly ground pepper put all ingredients into a screw top jar and shake shake shakeby Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Help cooking chickpeas please - 16 years ago
Having discovered chickpeas while in New Zealand I now adore them. While there I was told only to buy chickpeas that weren't heat treated, which I did, but never thought to ask why exactly. Now back in Australia, whenever I ask if the peas have been heat treated or not, I get very strange looks and mutterings of b****y kiwi I used to soak them overnight, rinse them, cook in fresh water fby Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: beetroot - 16 years ago
Give them a good wash and grate raw over salads is very very nice but a word of warning, do it at the last minute, along with the avocado, otherwise you'll end up with everything red.by Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: snow peas - 16 years ago
I had sort of followed this thread with interest as I enjoy snow peas and sprouts on sandwiches and decided to google NZ and see if seeds were available. This was the first place I found, seemed reasonable to me, and I don't know if they are still in operation.by Sharon S - Foodlovers Food Talk
