Thank you Griz.I have never bought cultered butter only whatever salted butter was on special the week I shopped.I do love butter as a spread and will now try the cultured butter for this.The red shed seems to have the cheapest salted butter at the moment,so I will bake with this.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Thanks all for your replies I will use my salted butter.This unsalted butter came up a couple of times as I was reading baking recipes and I always wondered how much of a difference it would make.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

If a recipe calls for unsalted butter which I don't buy (but would if it makes a big difference to the outcome of a recipe)can I get away with salted butter.I am always looking at recipes online and this question is always coming to mind.I think the last recipe that made me question this again was a cake.I just wonder how important this is please.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Thanks Barbara Anne I think I have got caught up in a lot of hype again.I also read about having to wear proper face masks so I have ordered the type suggested.I am sorry that I mentioned the PM's wedding as I have not seen the article saying that the wedding is going to be at a later date.Shamefully I got my information off the local facebook page.I do now believe I have taken the red traffic liby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Yes thank you Griz there is the difference between panic and preparation and I think I panicked again.I have been buying the extra packet as you have and I am prepared I only ever run out of fresh milk and eggs mostly.I think reading Trevor Mallard's article made me think oh here we go again.I didn't see Omicron coming so quickly and with the Prime Minister getting married next weekend I thoughtby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Thanks Ladies I was reading Trevor Mallard's report and he suggested that food that has to be shipped in might be short because workers on ports may be unwell so no unloading of lots of goods.I was wondering what these food goods will be Rice? and what else.It's only me home alone so I couldn't stock pile very much.by marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Barbara Anne I have had a stroke and I have lost my peripheral vision in my left eye.When I left hospital the doctor advised me not to drive the car until my doctor said I could.I want to be independent so I went to Specsavers to get an eye test.The man did tests and then wrote down what glasses I would need.He said my eyes weren't too bad but never mentioned cataracts so I assumed he didn't checby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

What I mean Tpandav is that all of you cooks on here are amazing and I can only read about where you have all been to learn the local cuisine and about the exotic dishes you are about to attempt.I do like reading all of this but am not about to attempt any of it,so I can't contribute.If you need to know how to boil an egg I am here for you.Perhaps there are a few more like me on this forum who moby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
