Re: Coffee Art and Mothers' Day Prize draw - 9 years ago
Wow- this is amazing. Real talented baristas out there. Sounds a brilliant machine to own. My Mum would love this - loves a good coffee but rarely has time for herself - this would do the trick. She sure deserves it. Mm - can smell fresh coffee and hot chocolates from here - perfect for the chilly nights we are having!!!!by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Coconut Aminos - 10 years ago
Think we can buy it here in the supermarket in the Health section or in Health stores. Called Bragg's amino sauce - much like soya sauce without the salt. Used to sell a lot of it when I had my own health store.by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Red Velvet, am I missing something? - 10 years ago
Have made Red velvet cake - uses buttermilk or milk and white vinegar but also a great deal of Red colouring. Still, more of a chocolate cake than anything else. My Grandmother's original chocolate cake uses vinegar anyway and the addtiion of colouring is just to change the colour I think.by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Hi there all Just wondering - does anybody know what has happened to the Real magazine that New World put out via Foodstuffs? Such a great magazine - I have every issue since it first came out. Re: Best fudge in the world! - 10 years ago
Yum - just added condensed milk to my shopping list. I have a recipe similiar to this and it also uses white chocolate for extra creaminess. I make it for my Mum for treats - add in some chopped 'strawberries and cream' soft sweets for extra colour and a festive, happy touch!!! Guess what I will be making this weekend - perfect for children's day on Sunday!!!!by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Eating out South Island - 11 years ago
So many places to choose - general census is that Botswana is over rated. Do agree. Spice room is amazing in Wanaka and fantastic Thai restaurants - Thai Siam is amazing!!!Service spot on and food to die for. In Queenstown - AVOID Novtotel - food and sevice is appalling. Not a good drawcard! In CHCH - please support - Cortados and Savoire in Beckenham and the new Filadelfios are a must! Enjoby Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Do you write in your cookbooks? - 11 years ago
To adjust to metric only. The old recipes of my grandfathers and Great Aunts are top notch - hard to read as well thumbed so have to neatly cover up and figure out exactly amounts used!!! Both have already earmarked and crossed their faves so know what I am looking for - just need to highlight.by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: any recipe for tasty coleslaw dressing - 11 years ago
I find a really great recipe for dressing any coleslaw is to use mustard oil in the dressing rather than ordinary oil or adding a dash of mustard oil to premade dressing. Makes all the difference. KFC has a great dressing on their coleslaw and the orignal recipe calls for mustrad oil!!by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk
Tapas and sliders - 11 years ago
I have just bought a packet each of the new tapa rolls and slider rolls that the French bakery are producing from the New World supermrket. Unsure what to do with the tapa rolls - there are 25 small roll in a pack but there are no instructions in the packs . They appear like par baked bread. Should I par bake them, pan fry before I use. Any ideas how to use them??by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: napoleon cake - 11 years ago
My Grandfather ws the original test baker at Ernest Adams and my Dad was marketing mnager and a director. When I was a kid I used to go with my Dad to the EA stoRes and had a great time. There is a great recipe for Napolean sqby Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Sweet bun doughrecipe query - 11 years ago
I have just read last weeks issue of the NZ Woman's weekly with the recipe for Deans' sweet bun dough recipe from the Chelsea Best Home baker programme. It states 25g yeast for 100g flour. Seems a lot of yeast for a small amount of flour!! Did anybody else spot ths? Surely this is a mistake!!!by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Edible Gifts - 12 years ago
Hi Bernice If you give me your email I will copy it and send it through to you! No worries. Think the recipe I wa looking for in the BHG Decmeber mag was for sugar plum candy. Most recipes I come across call for dried fruit but if I rmeber rightly don't think it had dried fruit in it!!!by Deb Beardsley - Foodlovers Food Talk
