Re: Cherry Tomato Glut - 6 weeks ago
Thanks all. And the green and red does look really nice together on the plate. I was initially going to use Anchovies instead of the Horseradish, and both were on the shelf on the fridge. I am thinking of giving anchovies a go this week - you don't know if you don't tryby Irene Field - Foodlovers Food Talk

Cherry Tomato Glut - 6 weeks ago
We have had a glut of cherry tomatoes, and have been enjoying them in various salads. I am not into making relishes/sauces for just the two of us. I had a bag of Baby Spinach leaves to use and decided to be adventurous and created this side dish. Firstly I warmed butter and EVOO, and then added garlic, capers and horseradish to that. After a wee while put in my bag of spinach and just befby Irene Field - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Netflix - 2 months ago
Happy New Year to you, Chris. Of all places, the Daily Mail UK website. They often reference Netflix shows praised by locals, that you never hear about here Have watched 6 episodes of 8 of Harlan Coben's Fool Me Once, just released on Netflix this past week. We wanted to watch the last 2 episodes last night, but not with today being a working day. Guess what we're up to this eveningby Irene Field - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Miracle in Cell No. 7 is an absolutely brilliant movie - however, it is subtitles only as it is a Turkish movie. One of the best movies seen in a long time and can thoroughly recommendby Irene Field - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: French Roast Chicken - 3 months ago
I always use an oven bag for butterflied chicken. For roast chicken, I push butter between the skin and flesh. Both of these always seem to give lovely moist meat when using the oven. However, I recently purchased a Crockpot Express and find the pressure-cooking option also makes the meat tender and moist, and the machine has the browning option, so I do that first. To MSG or not to MSG! - 3 months ago
Instead of salt we use Vegeta in our cooking, and I had an acquaintance poo poo me due to the fact that Vegeta contains MSG. I have always thought how sad, too bad and continued using it. Just read this excellent article in the Sydney Herald and the whole 'MSG is bad for you' which started in the late 70's to early 80s was actually a hoax! This is an interesting read. It reminds me of theby Irene Field - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Harry the pooch's latest adventure - 4 months ago
Am exactly like you, Chris. We had to have Minnie euthanised 1 year and 12 days ago, and not long after she turned 18. She went to sleep peacefully in George's arms, as he always did hold her. We had her cremated and her ashes were returned to us in a lovely colourful cardboard cylindrical container with a picture of sunshine, trees etc and a rainbow bridge. Minnie had a special plant pot iby Irene Field - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

I have no problems with cheaper butters. Am interested in how you source your canned Golden Churn Butter TPANDAV as I was under the impression that it could only be purchased in Duty Free on departure from NZ? I thought I would investigate AI thoughts on this and received the below response: In New Zealand, as in many other countries, there can be differences between supermarket brand butteby Irene Field - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: vegan christmas - 4 months ago
My first thought was a Roulade as it can look quite special. I googled and found this Chickpea Roulade - quite a few ingredients and not sure how 'vegan' it truly is (because I am not vegan) or these Mini Nut Roasts with Candied Carrots? which actually sounds nice, and says it can be made as one large as opposed to mini'sby Irene Field - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Help, What is the best Stand Mixer? I need a new one! - 5 months ago
Not too much help, but I did purchase a new stand mixer a couple of years ago. I previously had the Breville Pâtisserie and that was absolute rubbish. I was going to go down the Kitchen Aid path, but for the amount of usage I didn't feel the cost was justified, and ended up getting a Kenwood model. I use it for baking and am happy that it actually does mix everything in the bowl, whereas with thby Irene Field - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Tried ChatGPT? - 6 months ago
Love ChatGPT for analysing medical test results. Both hubby and I have the 'Manage My Health' app and all blood tests, X-ray results, specialist notes are actually filed there. I just cut and paste the blood test results, for instance and ask for a medical analysis, and it is returned in laymen's terms. Also, helpful for medical symptoms - of course a GP should be your point of contact, butby Irene Field - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
