Re: Command Hooks - 6 years ago
Be careful....My friend put them up on a rental place, when she moved she took the hooks down and it tore thro the plaster board. She had to pay to get the room fixed up. They are easy to put up but to take down is a different story.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Jelly for dessert - 6 years ago
Thank you for your replies. I just wanted to check that I was right in my thinking that jelly on its own was pretty poor I have put in a complaint but haven't had a courtesy of a reply and just yesterday she again received jelly on its own. The other day she got 5 apple slices from a tin with juice. Thats it. It should have been apple sponge. Ploughmans meal was 5 crackers with 2 different cby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk
Jelly for dessert - 6 years ago
My mother is in a resthome and often for dessert they get jelly in a bowl. Just jelly nothing else. I feel this is very poor, surely they should have whipped cream on top or serve it with fruit salad or fresh fruit. Just wondering what others think.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk

Money for Vietnam & Cambodia - 6 years ago
This is our first trip here. Staying 3 weeks in total in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi & Hoi An) 1 week on Mekong River Cruise and 1 week in Sein Reap. My problem is how much money to take and what. Friend told me to take $100 in US $1 notes and $100 in US $5 notes then store my cash passport card with US dollars. However my travel agent has said dont worry about converting into US dollars jby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Buying new bed - 6 years ago
We bgt a memory bed. Super King. Paid $5000+ for it. Biggest mistake, Its now 4 years old and obviously the memory has gone out the window. There is indent in our beds and if i visit hubby i have to roll up the slope then ski down it to meet him. In winter the bed is super warm but in summer its also super warm and I get so hot just lying on it with nothing covering me. Hate hate hate it.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Plastic bags and paper towels - 6 years ago
I have what Irene has, think its marvelous. I lie mine down in a large drawer I have in the kitchen and can pull one out of the holes. For paper towels I have a narrow ledge under the sink at the back and just store my unused paper towells there.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Vietnam & Cambodia - 6 years ago
We are off to above countries in Oct, 5 days in Ho Chi Minh, then a river cruise to Sein Reap and staying for 5 days then flying to Hanoi for 5 days and Hoi An for another 5 days. Im looking at hotels to stay in and getting quite confused looking at Trip Advisor. Has anyone stayed in these locations and what hotels do you recommend. Looking at around $90-$100 a night. (not too expensive) Thby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: If you won the lottery...what would you spend it on? - 6 years ago
Oh I love dreaming...now retired I would only tell my children and no-one else. Pay off the kids mortgage, give money to the smaller charities each year that seem to miss out a lot. Then enjoy overseas travel, going first class and staying at lovely hotels rather than flying economy and staying at middle of the road hotels. Each year I would pay for the children and grandies and us to go on a famby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Snacking at night - 6 years ago
Sit down and have a piece of fruit, I often, when in season has a bowl of feijoes at night. Tonight I peeled a persimmon and chomped on that. Better than snacks!.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Heavy drinking advice - 6 years ago
Our neighbour was a heavy drinker and now aged 70 he has been told his liver has had it. Too late now but he stopped drinking overnight. However he is now dying and we watch him daily getting worse. I suggest his wife and him go to the Doctor so you both hear the side effects that will effect you later on. i also suggest she go along to Al-anon. This is a wonderful support service which would hby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: "Come round for a coffee" - to offer food or not... - 6 years ago
If I invite someone over for coffee then I will make muffins or gems for morning tea or a slice for afternoon tea. However if I am chatting on the phone to a neighbour and say 'on the hoof' come over for coffee then I feel that is a casual invite and for morning tea will offer crackers and cheese or a biscuit (usually bght) for afternoon tea. I live in a village so receive many invites for coffeeby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Slow Cooker recipes - 6 years ago
I use my crockpot quite a bit. However I dont like the lingering smell of food throughout the house, often the smell is there the next day. So I always put the crockpot in the garage and cook there. Quite often I have it going at night, especially soup as I then freeze it the next day. Allyson Gofton has a nice crockpot recipe book which I use but also go on internetby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Salads from the Service Deli - 7 years ago
On the odd occasion I will buy a small container of coleslaw to use in salad buns. Saves me buying a cabbage which I would never use up. Otherwise I would prefer to make my own salads.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk

Rice & Quinoa Salad - 7 years ago
I just bought a pkt of Rice & Quinoa and want to make a salad with it. Have looked for recipes on internet but nothing jumps out. Have a Mediterranean Rice Salad with Basil Pesto mixed through it but not sure about it. Has anyone made a salad with this mix and will share their recipe. I want to make this to take to a christmas function next week. Thanksby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk

carrots - 7 years ago
I have been given about a dozen large carrots which I haven't a hope of using before they go off. I have looked on internet and can freeze them but wondered if anyone cooks them and then freezes them. I have a recipe which mashes the carrots but it has feta cheese in and wonder if that would work frozen. Does anyone cooks and freezes them.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk
curried yams - 7 years ago
I went to a restaurant and one of the vegetables was curried yams. It was absolutely lovely despite the fact I didn't really like yams. It was yams in a curry sauce. (this was a buffet meal at a local RSA club) I have tried to find a recipe on internet but cant. I suspect the sauce had coconut milk in but not sure. Does anyone have a recipe that I can use.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk

plants for in front of picture window - 7 years ago
We have a full length window in our lounge (takes up the whole wall) with a garden in front. I am trying to get plants or shrubs that are either red or white. We have a view from this window so dont want to block this view hence nothing tall. What on earth can I plant. What I have planted has turned to a disaster!!by noeleendickson - Garden Lovers Forum
Re: What type of suitcase - 7 years ago
I lock our suitcases when travelling, not because to safeguard people stealing things from it but to safeguard us from people popping things into the suitcase. We go to Bali every couple of years and quite frankly I dont know what goes on behind the scenes when I drop my bag off and feel if someone is going to pop drugs etc in a bag they will choose one that is not locked. Ok I may be paranoidby noeleendickson - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Rats in the Compost Bins - 7 years ago
I was always told with rats you need to tie the bait down so they dont run off with it. They will probably just take it away and store it. Bait should be put in an old pipe or similiar so cats and dogs dont get it. Get a piece of wire and tie the bait around it (we buy the green bait) then tie the other end to a brick. You soon know the rats have been chewing on the bait. When bait all gone replaby noeleendickson - Garden Lovers Forum
Re: Cheese wedding cake - 8 years ago
I went to a wedding and they had the cheese cake. It was similiarly dressed as the 80th birthday cheese cake. I thought it a brilliant idea and after the meal it was lovely to have cheese and crackers instead of a heavy fruit cake.by noeleendickson - Foodlovers Food Talk
