Cast Iron Casserole Dish. - 4 years ago
I am wanting to buy a cast iron casserole dish.I can't afford Le Creuset.I want a good sized one and am trying to search online for a good size with a good price that I can afford.I have looked at Lodge and La cuisine.Does anyone have any ideas of what these two types are like or is there any other casserole dish out there that is a good buy?I am wanting to cook pork chops/lamb chops etc.Thanks.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: New Season Avocados - 4 years ago
Can I add the wheel barrow of avocados were sitting outside a rural property only built last year with no trees around it, so I don't know where they obtained them. This is a problem because they are so expensive people steal them and are advertised on facebook.I don't know where the wheel barrow of avocados came from but they were not ready to sell.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: New Season Avocados - 4 years ago
i stopped at a road side wheel barrow yesterday and they had 3 large avocados in a bag for $5.00.They were hass because I know them quite well, but they were bright green and rough skinned.I didn't buy any because I think that they should be picked this sept/oct.I think that they probably will go soft but will be tasteless.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk
Re: Shoulder Pork Chops. - 4 years ago
Thank you Tpandav, J1,and Dawn for the addition of soy sauce in Tpandav's recipe.I do tend to use a lot of soy sauce if I am cooking something like mince or tasty chops. This is cooking that comes naturally to me,but give me a written new recipe and I need to follow it with my finger.I do like these recipes and I will definitely try them both.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Dried out pork chops saved - 4 years ago
That's interesting Judym I was going to ask you all what to do with Pork shoulder chops.I bought some on special a few weeks ago and froze them.I don't think I have ever bought the shoulder cut before but these were cheap. Are they nice just roasted and how long should they take to cook or are they better casseroled. If any one has a recipe I would love to see it.Also Judym how do you get the rindby marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk

Re: Bamboo Steamer. - 4 years ago
Thank you TPANDAV.We don't have a Chinese food market in this area and she talked about Bao buns and dumplings I think. We are amateurs in the kitchen but lately she has been trying and enjoying Marion Grasby recipes.I bought her a wok a few years ago but it is a Briscoes one and she does use it often.Sorry by that I mean it is not a genuine item. When I look on line at steamers they seem to be 20cby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Bamboo Steamer. - 4 years ago

Re: Cosy small Balcony - 4 years ago
My daughter asked me a similar question about her Takapuna balcony.I suggested standing back and looking at what others have, but I would have a big shrub in a pot and the chair that Lorna suggested.I don't know of the chair but it sounds good.Where do you get one Lorna?by marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Re: Colour Run On fabric. - 4 years ago
Thanks Barbara Anne I had searched Countdown site already but never thought to type in colour run. It"s a reasonable price too, I will buy some in the morning but I agree with you that I am setting this colour run in by experimenting. As it's a grand childs top I will try a couple more times then confess. Thanks very much.by marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat

Colour Run On fabric. - 4 years ago
I was soaking a cotton tee shirt in sard and forgot about it for a couple of days. There was red in the shirt which has run on to the white and grey parts of the shirt when I washed it, leaving pink marks. I have soaked it in white vinegar and water, poured a little hydrogen peroxide on and tried a paste of baking soda with vinegar.Nothing so far will move these pink spots. It doesn't belong to meby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
Re: Passionfruit Pulp - 4 years ago
Thank you very much for your suggestions Ali, Gran and Danube. All very helpful as I usually come across a cake or slice recipe out of season and this is when I most feel like baking.Much appreciated.by marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk
Passionfruit Pulp - 4 years ago
I have come across a few recipes using passion fruit pulp.I don't grow them so I don't have any in my freezer.I know you can still buy them fresh at supermarkets etc. but if you need to use passion fruit out of season is pulp sold in containers or frozen?.I only know of the sweetened passion fruit pulp in a little plastic jar with a screw top which I thought is only used as an ice cream topping oby marylew - Foodlovers Food Talk
Bottle Brush. - 5 years ago
A few months back I wanted a shrub to put in an empty space in my garden.I didn't know what I wanted so I chose a Pink Bottle Brush I must admit in a hurry. When I read the tag at home it said don't plant near a path or pipes.I didn't know then what to do with it. It was going to head towards some pipes or my septic tank.I had a fairly large empty ceramic pot on my deck and I put it in that.It isby marylew - Garden Lovers Forum
Re: Tree in a barrel - 5 years ago
Thank you Chris and Irene.I actually thought that the colourful ceramic pot would be best suited for a permanent plant of any kind. After reading your replies I can now see where I would have gone wrong.I will find the barrel thanks and I like the Escallonia as J1 suggested.by marylew - Garden Lovers Forum
Re: Tree in a barrel - 5 years ago
I am also interested in growing something in a pot to get privacy. The suggestions here are all excellent. What i would like to know is how large does the pot or tub need to be for anything permanent? I would like to buy a coloured ceramic pot but I don't know what the sizing means for a large pot.I know what the barrel looks like but can anyone give me rough measurements for a tree or shrub to livby marylew - Garden Lovers Forum

Re: Automated phone call - 5 years ago
I am with Spark and I had a little trouble with my laptop one day.Thinking back now it must have been a coincidence as the next day I got one of these calls. It was supposedly from Spark and it sounded so real telling me my internet connection was going to be discontinued if I didn't get in touch immediately.I was advised to press 1 and I did.It rang twice and a foreign man answered and explainedby marylew - Foodlovers Non-Foodie Chat
