Lilies In Pots.

My lilies are in pots where I grew them for the first time last year. After flowering I put them in the garden in their pots and put them back on the deck about six weeks ago.Should they have new shoots up by now as the weather has been warmer or is it still to early for this to happen?I am worried that they might have rotted.I know that I can still buy new bulbs but don't know if it's too late to plant now.Any help thanks?

What sort of lilies are they Marylew? I have Christmas type lilies in pots and they stay in them all year round.
They are up now, probably about 5-10cm of growth.

Hi Helen I have the Christmas type and oriental in pots and after good advice I received here I put the pots out in the garden for the winter.I sat inside on very wet days looking at them thinking surely these might rot.I put them back on the deck a few weeks back and during august because we had had good warm weather I thought that they ought to have been coming up.I obviously just panicked as it was too early for this to happen and now during the last couple of days they are coming through. All is well now thank you and I will learn more as I go along.

Oh good! I leave mine exposed to the elements all year round. They haven't ever rotted, just keep coming up and multiplying. I do need to feed them a bit more though.

Hi, glad to hear all is well, mine are just through in the last week or so. I leave mine in pots all year around too, and usually plant sweet peas on top, which grow up the stems of the lilies.
