I have been given a box of cherries and while I am making a great attempt to eat my way through I wondered if any one had success in making jam, bottling or whatever

Some years ago I preserved them in red wine, sugar, spices. Sorry cant remember the recipe it was a long time ago but remember it was very nice on vanilla ice cream. Am sure there will be a recipe somewhere on the net.

Hi Bev, I freeze any cherries we can't eat as well as strawberries, and bananas. I just slice them up and freeze in an airtight plastic container. They make great smoothies and are excellent in winter for making muffins and pancakes. However, mostly mine get used in smoothies as I have 3 teenagers! I can barely keep up with demand. I just remove the pips by cutting the cherries in half and flicking the pips out and then throw in the plastic container and freeze.
