Active yeast needs to be woken up before using, whereas instant yeast can be mixed into dry ingredients. A sachet of instant is usually around 2.5 teaspoons, so you could use around that much of active, just mix it with a portion of the liquid and sugar from your recipe (about 60-100ml of liquid, warmed and 1 teaspoon of sugar), and let sit for 10 min.
