Hi guys I'm a newbie here and I want to know what is your favorite food? Mine is Pizza because it feels like home every time i eat some

I don't have a favourite food as such. I can be eating a Lasagne that I have cooked, and think wow this is the best, this is my favourite. Then there may be a Thai dish I cook, and that becomes my favourite. I guess that is the beauty of the enjoyment of food and the wonderful tastes that are offered.

Sometimes I just yearn for sausages and mash with some homemade slaw but I also did a roast pork last Sunday with homemade applesauce and gravy, with vegies, invited family to share and there was a long silence while we ate - all very happy especially when I then pulled out an apple and rhubarb crumble with custard. Makes me sound like I an a carnivore, but quite often eat just vegies or salads. Live in Hawkes Bay so there is always plentiful supply of fresh fruit and vegies.

I would eat a variety of seafood over anything else every day of the year if I could...............................

Home-smoked fish.

Comfort Food: Chicken Schnitzel is an all time favourite that I grew up and my mum still makes it regularly when we visit.
Out to eat: Eye fillet steak. (medium Rare)
Bakery: Custard/ Vanilla Square from the French Bakery
Takeaway: Tom Yum Gai or a spicy Laksa
Breakfast: Creamy Balsamic mushrooms on toast (recipe below)


Creamy Balsamic mushrooms on toast
What you need (recipe for one person – double for two)
About 12 button mushrooms per person
1-2 garlic cloves finely chopped
Olive oil for cooking mushrooms
1/3 cup of balsamic vinegar
50mls cream
Salt/pepper to taste

How to make
Add the oil, garlic and mushrooms to a frying pan and saute for a few minutes.
Add half the balsamic vinegar to the pan and turn up the heat so it bubbles and reduces, when its reduced quite a bit, add the rest of the vinegar. Keep it bubbling but don’t let it reduce to nothing.
Take it off the heat and add the cream and salt/pepper.
Reduce the heat and cook until the cream is hot – you may want to reduce it a bit more.
Pour over crunchy ciabatta bread or serve as a side dish.

For me it's a toss up between any kind of cheese with crackers, and a really well cooked steak, rare/medium rare depending on type of steak.

It's always the old fashioned favourites that people comment on when I serve them.

For me....it's chips. Not greasy, hot and not too salty.

Hi vrj do you have a favorite pizza recipe to share with us?

well I live here in the Philippines and quality Pizzas are so expensive but my mother have a recipe
here it is

ingredients: 3 eggs 1 whole pepper red/ green
1/2 kilo of ground beef 1 wheat bread pan
1 pack hot dog 1 pack of ketchup/tomato sauce
1 box of cheese 1 pack of breed crumbs
1 whole white onion
1 pack del monte chunks (pine apple)

1. mix 1 egg with 1/2 kilo of ground beef and make tiny meat balls.
2. slice hot dog, cheese, white onion, and pepper to desired slice
3. prepare your to wheat bread pan and put ketchup to desired amount
4. now you can put all the pre - sliced ingredients to either side of the bread pan
5. put it like a sandwhich and press it firmly
6. now dip it into beated eggs and next to the bread crumbs
7. and simply deep fry it 2-5 mins until medium brown or desired look
* do forget to taste it first and put salt and pepper *

there you go my favorite pizza sandwhich its my family recipe and it was just experimental but i know you cook it more delicious as mine have fun

A great thin base spicy pizza hits the spot too or a creamy chokabloka full of seafood seafood chowder - no potatoes. One more a seafood Laksa - no tofu.

vrj, if I'm not mistaken, I think Vanessa is referring to the pink pickled ginger that you can buy. It's the root of the ginger plant, sliced very thinly and then pickled. Don't ask me what it's pickled in, I haven't a clue. I have some in my fridge but I've thrown out the plastic bag it came in and have in a jar in my fridge. It's delcious with so many things, hot or cold.

Bread and cheese.
I just love how many flavour and texture combinations that can be made with different breads and cheeses. My favourite cheese would have to be a triple cream brie, served on lightly toasted vogels (or homemade) spelt and flaxseed bread.
