Avocado stones

Our woofer who is staying with us at the moment was telling us that her previous family grated and sautéed avocado stones as they are so good for you.
A little googling seems to support this.
Does anyone here eat them or have you ever eaten them?
If so are they gritty and what do they taste like? I realise you grate them but they just don't sound that appealling
