Lemonade scones are very light but to me are tasteless and not substantial at all. I love a heavy-ish crusty scone with dates or cheese.
If I had a choice, I'd never pick one. the ones I have had have not been "fails" ...but definitely too light.

Unfortunately I have never been very successful at making scones as I can't judge the correct amount of liquid to add when the recipe just says "Milk to mix" without specifying how much. I plan to have another go sometime soon though, as my husband is very partial to date scones.
Personally I love orange-flavoured date scones. Coffee Culture cafes sell them but they have too much sugar on them for my liking.

Someone told me once they'd never managed to make successful scones until the day they had just put the dry ingredients in the bowl, rubbed in the butter, when their guest knocked on the door, they quickly added wet ingredients, super quickly mixed everything & got them ion the oven & they were the best scones ever. So, mix the dry ingredients very thoroughly then, when you add the wet ingredients pretend a guest is already knocking on the door.
