I've often wondered about the copyright of a recipe and when one can claim a recipe is my Mothers, or a family recipe?
Or when a chef or cook can claim a recipe is their creation?

I mean, how many different ways can you bake a scone or poach eggs?

Is it the ingredients or cooking method that copyright a recipe? or the style that it's told?

If I am correct The chefs cannot claim ingredients but just the explanation of how it is done.I may be wrong but it is something along those lines.

Karen that is pretty much how it is, you cannot legally copyright a list but you can protect your use of the wording in the method. It is a difficult one as there are so many blurred lines and recipes such as your example of scones can only really have a couple of variations.
