Barbara Anne, Thank you so much for giving that information about Noel Leeming. I live 1.5 hours away from our nearest branch and do a lot of my shopping online. I often purchase from Noel Leeming and didn't know they offered this discount to Super Gold cardholders. I've updated my account with them and the discount amount will now be automatically applied with each purchase.

More off-topic I'm afraid but following up on Barbara Anne and Lorna's posts re Gold Card discounts, I find that not many of the businesses who give discounts or deals advertise it at point of sale, eg. Spotlight, so it pays to ask when shopping. To check out who does give discounts/deals in any area, go here: [supergold.govt.nz]

Don't worry about the off-topic - sometimes it's just perfectly appropriate; in real life conversation flows from one thing to another and a whole lot of information bits and pieces would be lost otherwise.
No-one has come on and sung the praises of their smoking guns so I'm left wondering if they just don't impart enough smoke flavour to the food? For instance, recently I went to a restaurant that cooked all its food in wine barrels on a system similar to this [www.wildearthwines.co.nz] and the idea was things like salmon, beef, mushrooms, etc, would have a lovely smoke flavour imparted to them. However, we found there was no smoke flavour whatsoever, not even a BBQ flavour - if you didn't know how the food had been cooked you'd assume it was done in a conventional oven, stovetop, etc. It was disappointing. So I'm left wondering if smoking guns don't impart enough smoke flavour. Or is there some other problem with them? I love smoke flavour, particularly in fish, mushrooms and butter, but I've never done my own smoking and are wanting to start small.....

Further to the discount topic in this thread, I am stunned by the amount of discount Noel Leeming give to SuperGold Card holders. As soon as I read Barbara Anne's advice, I went online and registered my SuperGold Card number with Noel Leeming. If you are shopping online with them, it shows the regular price and the discounted price instantly for the item you are viewing if you have registered.
I am in the process of seeking a refund/replacement for a faulty bench-top oven with rotisserie that I purchased and have been given consent by Breville to take the faulty one back to Noel Leeming and get a replacement. I looked up on the website to see if our local branch has one in stock before driving the 75 minutes to Thames. The current advertised price is $349.99 and the SuperGold price is $185.48. That $164.51 difference!! Well worth the couple of minutes it takes to register your card if you have an account with them.
Incidentally, I'm glad I thought to check and see if they have one in stock, because they haven't! I will now ring them and tell advise them of my plight and ask them to ring me once they have one transferred from another branch.
