Pavlova, is it still alright to eat?
January 21, 2019 11:57PM
I had made an extra pavlova at Christmas which in the end we didn't need, had intended to use it soon afterwards but that didn't happen. It has been stored in an airtight container in a cool area and hasn't weeped and looks fine, would it be safe to it? Thanks for your help,

I'd eat it. It's basically sugar and dehydrated egg whites so my thought is it'd be fine for ages.

Definitely, if you look at bought meringues and pavs in the supermarket they have a very long use by. I think it will be fine for several months.

Thanks very much for your help, it will save having to make another one as the grandkids always want pavlova when they come to stay :-)

I'm going to add a note of caution, yes the sugar should be a preservative, but if it's got a moist meringue middle then I'd tend to give it a miss.(Moist + protein = risk in my book) If it's crispy all the way through then it should be fine.
