I hope it is okay to post this.
I am excited to announce that the Twice Cooked website for nearly new contemporary cookbooks is now live! It would be great if you could have a look and perhaps share it to anyone you think would be interested.
I would appreciate feedback, both good and bad!

Thanks,
Jacki

Thanks for your comments.
Helen and TPANDAV - there is a search function though perhaps it is not prominent enough. It's in the top right hand corner by the cart icon. I will look into whether we can make it more obvious - I note it doesn't even have the word search just the icon.
Did you find your book Helen? Interesting, last weekend I came across the Helen Jackson's Radio Pacific Cookbook which I had never seen before. It isn't in good enough condition for us to list though not far from it and misses our year cut off by one year. I will be adding it to my ever growing collection of cookbooks. Will be trying some of the party recipes including the Pumpkin Risotto Balls though I will have to change the chicken stock to vege being a vegetarian.

Helen, I do have another two copies as well that aren't review copies. I put the review copy on first as although all three are in near new condition the review copy was the best of the three. I have been eyeing one of them up for myself but have been holding off in the hope of picking up some more copies. If you wanted one without the review sticker let me know.

Thank you, Clare. There can be a fine line between spam or posts placed for advertising purposes, but this one is obviously being very much enjoyed by the members, there's no objectionable content, and so I'm pleased that I asked first instead of hitting the delete button.
Edited to add that lately the website has been displaying differently when there are spam messages. The page seems to lose the right hand side and I have to actually open the suspet message before I can see the delete button. I don't know if it's the same for everybody or just because I'm admin, and to alert me to spam.

Hi Jackie, thanks I will place and order and the review copy is just fine.
I wonder if you need to be careful with selling review copies though as don't they have wording that they are not allowed to be sold?
Just checking as you don't want to be tripped up on that one.

Hi Helen
I think the review copy would be okay as the date on it is 2011. The original person who reviewed it has already on sold it or given it away and someone else has sold it. I have two or three other review copies of books which I think would be okay too as they are not recently released books either. I ran it by Mr Twice Cooked (a lawyer) and he said they can't embargo the book forever and thought it would be fine now.
I don't think I would be comfortable listing a review copy of a book that has just been released though - good point Helen.

Just to let you know, as a result of the feedback here, the Search function has been made more obvious - it is now in the top menu bar so hopefully that helps.
Thanks for the feedback.

I bought 3 copies of my book from Twice Cooked as I had run out of stock at home and still get people asking.
Just to say that each of the 3 copies are in immaculate condition - the books don't look as though they have been opened (that is possibly a bad thing for an author).
They were each wrapped in brown paper and delivery was fast and efficient.
Thanks Jacki.

Nice site - I would have poured over it a few years back but sadly Im on the decluttering and culling my cook books as I live in a small space and really don't have the room. Im down to a select few and about to put them up on trade me. Do you buy off people? Like the recycled clothes shops? Postage might be a bit expensive ???
Ive attached a pic of whats left!
You may be curious as to what I have actually kept....
Here is the small list.
Sauces - Michel Roux
Economy Gastronomy - Allegra Mc Evedy & Paul Merrett
Plenty - Ottolengi
Simplicity and Simplicity Flow - Sarah Wilson
Book of Soups - New Covent Garden Soup Company
Pure Indulgence (charity book) Jo Wilcox
One Helping (charity book)
Low Carb - Pete Evens
Happy Reading
Vanessa

So glad you were pleased with them. I think your books must be very popular as they are hard to find secondhand - people must be hanging on to them!

Hi Vanessa
Sorry for the delay in replying, June and July are really busy months for us travelling buying books. There are probably a few that we would be interested in and as you mentioned postage costs can be prohibitive. If you are in Canterbury you could email me at jacki@twicecooked.co.nz
For anyone else reading this and wanting to sell books - we are almost at the point of saying an outright no to buying books from private individuals as most people are (naturally) wanting to get rid of their old cookbooks which do not fit the criteria for our bookstore. We prefer books to be from 2010 and later but depending on the cookbook will go back to the year 2000 (though you wouldn't find many that old on the site).
Kind Regards

UPDATE: Have now been contacted! 25/10
UPDATE: I have heard nothing so will issue a refund now. If you are the person concerned and find this eventually, I will hold the book for a week or two in case you get in touch.
I am posting this as a last resort.
Someone (for privacy reasons I can't name them) bought a cookbook from Twice Cooked on 10 October. Unfortunately they left an incomplete address (I'm not sure how it was accepted with only a number and no street name) and my emails to them have bounced back so appears the email address is incorrect as well.
I have found them on Facebook and messaged them and also worked out that they are a member of this forum so have also sent a PM to them via Foodlovers. I have heard nothing back.
Hopefully they might see this here. I'll give them a day or two to hopefully see this and if I haven't heard anything by Sunday I will have to refund them. I am surprised they are not asking where their book is as it is very overdue considering we have overnight delivery.
Thanks
Jacki
ps Hope it is okay to post this here
