Cardboard tops on milk!

Are any of you old enough to remember these? A friend of mine on FB has asked and I replied: 'Yes ...on crates of small bottles left in the sun outside the school gates until someone brought them in for 'break' ... eurghk!'
Perhaps this accounts for my life long aversion to milk. I have never had milk in tea or coffee, and feel quite squeamish when I see adults drinking it. Love cheese though.

I remember those days. The milk delivery was done with the best of intentions but it seemed only a few schools were smart enough to make sure the milk was taken to a cooler area quickly. There were never any complaints from the boys as to who would lift and carry the crates.
The importance of being a milk monitor was one to be proud of. Smiles.

And underneath the cardboard lid of the cream bottle was the most special layer of thick yumminess a child could wish for!
