Oh good grief, Plates, thanks for the explanation; I would not have thought of that possibility.
Kone, I agree, garlic has become so ubiquitous in recipes, I started omitting it from many things several months back. My other half keeps using quantities of it so I've told him today he'll have to start following my example, especially given it's something we never have much luck growing well ourselves. And yes, I don't think garlic ever made an entry into my mother's kitchen.

Quite a while ago I started to cut down on the quantities of garlic in my cooking, not because of the cost but because it was so hard to find in good condition. I realised after a few weeks that the food was largely more interesting and complex without great hits of garlic, and now I use it only in dishes where it is an essential component. And it saves money!

Helen I read a great description of predictive text: It's as if a drunk with English as a second language is editing everything you write.
I try turning off predictive text but every time I install an upgrade it comes back on again. Phone, tablet and desktop all suffer more and more.
I wrote in an email yesterday that the winter had turned our maples red. It came out as "pruned the maples red".

I sent a text to a male I didn't know well - work related. To my horror the word 'sex' appeared in the middle of it.
I immediately had to send an apology.
It does pay to go slowly and check before you send. I also had the time some years ago that Virginia became female genitalia and I didn't know her well either.

On the same vein, whenever I'm typing a particularly sensitive or emotional email, I never put in the sender's address until I'm totally finished and ready to send. Or if it is a reply, I intentionally delete the reply-to address. Saves accidentally sending something half way through, and can slow you down a touch when in a tiz over something.
And garlic, yes... hideous prices for fairly miserable garlic. Quite possibly to do with the drought? My crop the last two years has been an abject failure to rust so I didn't bother wasting the space in the garden this year.
