I have almost never baked using the microwave but realised a recipe here for shortbread - that rates quite highly on google - didn't have an image.
I made it over the weekend and again today - the first time it over cooked. It is ridiculously easy in the sense that it cooks in 7 minutes. No I am not going to stop using my oven but for those who want/need to use a microwave then this Microwave Shortbread Recipe is actually good.

what good timing, thank you Helen.
We have recently finished a kitchen reno (delayed a bit with Covid stuff) & our new Electrolux oven has fried itself, so 2 weeks on still waiting for parts & repairs. Very frustrating.
A microwave shortbread might help soothe the husbands withdrawal for things oven made haha
ps - the oven has a pyrolytic function which I thought was our special buy/treat, but in some instances the heat of these ovens cooks the electronics & it stops working.
Which sort of defeats the purpose of cleaning it at high temps. Technology.

Mantilla my oven has a pyroytic function which I initially thought was a great thing but the manual suggests you clean off any excess dirt first plus clean the glass door. You then have to remove the racks and clean them and then set it to clean.
I am not completely convinced that the feature is worth it.

I have a Bosch Pyrolitic Oven, and absolutely love the feature. I remove excess dirt that may be on the bottom of the oven, but if it doesn't come off I leave it. Yes all the racks have to come out - you can purchase an add on extra so they can stay in, but I haven't bothered. Fortunately hubby has access to a caustic bath in their workshop, so he takes the racks for me and they come home gleaming new (just googled and you can purchase Caustic Soda at Mitre 10 and Caustic Soda Crystals at OfficeMax). Plus the oven always looks brand new after the pyrolitic function. I actually wipe the glass door down after cleaning - when the oven has cooled down obviously and find with the heat a lot of that gunk comes off as well. My manual recommends using the function only every 2 to 3 months, unless your oven is extremely dirty.
Mantilla that is shocking what has happened to you with your oven. I wonder if you can put your foot down and say you want a replacement, and not repairs?

I just saw your post Helen ... yes, I too am leaning this way regarding the pyrolytic function. It has finally been fixed under warranty but the company in Auckland didnt seem to know their left hand from their right hand & it took nearly 3 weeks for it to be repaired - parts ordered but not despatched from the warehouse, then only 1 part sent not the other (but in the warehouse too).
Darling husband is (not one of the regular cooks here) also not impressed with the after sales service so if this reoccurs it will be bye-bye Electrolux ovens.
I will make sure I clean down the oven door too before the next clean happens, thanks

Jenna, in the last two week's Fair Go programme, there have been numerous complaints about wringer washing machines tangling the clothes so much that they are twisted and torn when taken out of the machine . Other complaints tell of the machines 'walking' across the floor because they vibrate so much. It doesn't appear to be a user problem, but something in the make-up of the machines. The people complaining also say they get very poor service, or no service at all when contacting the manufacturers and/or retailers. It doesn't seem to be confined to one particular brand.
As of today, there are the last 4 episodes of Fair Go still showing On Demand, the oldest one having only 5 days left to view I'm not sure exactly which episodes the stories are in, but it was aired in two episodes sometime in the last month.
Edited to say I've just been back to OnDemand and found a full synopsis of the programmes. The two concerned at those of 7th and 14th September. There's a bit of time left, with 19 and 26 days respectively.
