I was horrified to see Anchor butter at our local NW for $9 a block. Then today I see that the Warehouse are selling Tararua butter as a loss leader to encourage shoppers at $4 per 500g. Good on the Warehouse.
I know butter isn't an essential item but the price of food at the moment is just terrible for lower income families.

$9! Wow. That's dreadful.
I worked out the other day that the cost per 400g of Westgold on special at NW is almost exactly the same as the cost of the superb Greek extra virgin olive oil that we buy from Vetro. So Anchor at $9 for 500g would be much more expensive than either. That doesn't make any sense to me.
I normally buy Westgold, but as I recall Tararua butter was very good quality so we'll certainly be off the The Warehouse tomorrow in case there is some left in the chiller.
