Purchasing food processor/blender

my trusty Sunbeam food processor needs replacing. I have a Bamix hand wand that I love for smoothies and other small jobs, but larger jobs take a bit too long.
The new combination processors and blenders seem bulky. What do you pulverise your soup in - thinking of pumpkin etc, food processor or blender. Should I go for two different machines?

I have the kenwood, which has a base unit that you change the processor or blender attachments, I use this quite alot, it also comes with smaller grinder type jars to make smaller amounts of sauces or grinds. these smaller ones are similar to the bullet advertised on the tv at the moment.

Jenni, I was thinking the same thing. I have a Kenwood food processor and I have a Braun hand held (mine is the most powerful of the range). I was just thinking that I have haven't used my Kenwood since I got my Braun but I haven't been through a soup season yet. My Braun has a sealed container that fits on the bottom so I can puree about 11/2 cups of veges etc quite quickly. So it will be interesting to see. I know this is not much help but it does make me wonder if I do need a processor at all.
