Just reporting back- the saucer worked well on the gas BBQ. My mistake was taking my 18 yr old son with me to buy it- huge appetitie so huge saucer! So we make huge pizzas! Just as well we have a huge BBQ. Of course we should have measured before we went shopping but we were so excited. We had quite a debate over the size of the saucer, I 'm sure the other plant shoppers thought we were mad.

Hi Karen
Yes , we put the saucer on the cold BBQ and so it heated up while we prepared the pizza in the kitchen. On our BBQ it was up to heat in about 10 mins ( I have no idea really just a guess). The pizza was cooked in about 12 mins( again this is just a guess). As to the size, you need to measure your BBQ ( width) we were just lucky ours fitted- the diameter of our saucer (cooking area) is 31 cms. Getting the pizza off was a bit of a mission, we really need a pizza paddle, we were cooking multiple pizzas so just left the saucer on the BBQ and loaded on the next one.
Pizza is on the menu again tonight- drive the neighbours crazy withthe smell!

when I have used my pizza stone I had trouble transfering the prepared pizza on to the stone. The stone came with a paddle but the dough appears to soft - When I try to pick it up with the paddle to put on the hot stone it falls apart. Is there some secret to this. I thought of assembling the pizza on the hot stone but thought I would loose to much heat. I am sure there is a simple answer.

Assemble the pizza on the paddle (:
Then shuffle it to the edge of the paddle; and sorta shake just the first inch or two on to the pizza stone (which is the real trick to it), it should be towards the back of the pizza stone so there's enough room for the rest of the pizza without moving it; then tilt the paddle up, and pull back; so that it slides off.
