Has anyone else had problems accessing the Foodlovers site lately? Twice in the last week I have tried every way I can think of to get into the site but nothing - just a blank screen with the little whatsit whirling round and round at the top and a tag at the bottom left of the page saying 'waiting for foodlovers.co.nz'. The address bar remains empty.
I tried entering from the shortcut on my homepage; by typing the address into the address bar myself and from the bookmark menu, but no joy. So I just left it and thought I'd try again later but always forgot until the next morning.
Hm, just had thought. If it happens again, perhaps I'll go to my 'history' and see if I can enter that way, then refresh the page.

I have had heaps of trouble trying to access this site lately . One day the website wasn't available at all for most of the day, other days it has taken too long to wait for it to appear so I have walked away and tried later. I thought it was my computer being slow.I am glad you have noticed it too Lorna.

The site was down for a while on the 15th. I emailed Helen after I tried to log in several times during the day and used the "Is it them or me" site. [www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com]
Helen replied that it had taken a while to fix a problem. Since then I have had the occasional delay but nothing major.

Sorry, I should have posted what has been happening but am in Hokitika visiting my parents and not on my laptop as often as I should be.
We have had an issue what the site crashing that my technical people tell me should be sorted now. It was due to some things being a bit old and dated but they assure me they are sorted now,
Tpandav I am at a loss to understand the slow speed though. I usually work from a PC or check in with my iPhone.
Currently I am away and using a mac lap top, all of these seem to work efficiently on foodlovers and I don't have speed issues.
I just don't get why it could be slow for some people if it isn't a general problem. It is perplexing.

The loading speed varies for me - at the moment it is fairly quick on Firefox/iMac but sometimes it is hesitant. Usually slower on Safari/iPad. We have VDSL. By way of comparison:
Faster than Foodlovers: Trademe, NZ Herald, Guardian, ASB, BNZ, London Review of Books, Auckland Library
Same as Foodlovers: Timesonline, Spark, Tripadvisor, The Age, Financial Times

I think I have got to the bottom of this and it appears that our server is old and struggles with traffic peaks etc...(I don't know what the etc.,.. means but there are other things it struggles with).
My only solution is to upgrade which does come at a cost but there really isn't an option.
So, while I intend to grit my teeth and do the upgrade I would really appreciate it if you would let adverts load (rather than blocking) and every so often give them a click to encourage revenue. Haha
I know ads can be intrusive but I do try and keep them as subtle as possible...
thank you!
