Ball point pens-how to make then write after long time stored.

I have several ball point pens that have been at the back of my desk for ages and as luck would have it, they won't write. I have tried using them on glass but that doesn't work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming that the ink hasn't dried out, try writing in a square a few times. That frees up the ball.

You might also try holding the pen in hot water for a couple of minutes. The heat might get any remaining ink flowing again.

I usually try the hot water method as well.

Thanks for replies folks. Murphy's law, tried them all but nothing worked. Lol.

Noel, one or other or both of those methods must work if indeed the ink is still in liquid form.

I suspect that the ink has dried out - you did say that the pens had been in the drawer for 'ages'.

Yes, been ages since ai used them. Guess the ink must have dried up. Thank you anyway for your reply.

My home office is full of free pens given away by all sorts of businesses etc. No need to worry about some of them drying up before being used, and NEVER any need to buy a pen. Stationers don't do well out of me!
