Oh gosh, I just received a text telling me that parcel NZ24462-19 is pending at distribution center (yes wrong spelling for NZ) with a tracking code. I thought it was genuine as hadn't heard of this hoax. There is a link to click which then tells you that you need to pay $3.25 for shipping. This aroused my suspicions so I googled it to find out if it was a known problem and yes it is.
Maybe you have already been made aware of this but just letting you know in case not.

Yes, I've had one too Helen - a couple of weeks ago. As I had no parcels pending I didn't read into it any further, I deleted it thinking it was a hoax.
My cell phone is periodically getting a call (happened this morning) which is a recorded message in an Asian language and if I don't answer it there is a message left to ring 707. When I ring 707 to listen it is a voice in Asian language.........
No matter what we do, it seems we're never ever going to be rid of hoax messages or calls! They are always two steps ahead.
Regards,
Dawn.

NEVER ring a number you've been anonymously given. It's possible you will be charged for the call and goodness knows what else they can glean by doing this. We at SeniorNet in Whitianga are running a Coffee & Discussion session on Security and keeping your self safe while using technology and there will be a national programme ,The CERT NZ Cyber Security week (14-18 October) which aims to lift awareness of security and the potential of cyber-attacks Watch out for it in your area and if you're worried about this aspect of life, I suggest you attend to get as much information as possible.
