My husband is out of town and yesterday his phone got a real drenching by accident. It was not a happy instrument and refused to charge up or do anything reasonable last night.
This morning it randomly sent my phone a text saying he had called emergency services and it was letting me know as first contact. To say my heart was thumping was an understatement. I could not rouse anyone where he was staying, so after leaving a message I waited 20 mins and was about to ask the police to check things out. Then my DIL phoned telling me that all was okay and explained about the phone.
Now about every 40 mins I get a text telling me he has changed location.
Does anyone know how I can stop it at my end until his phone is usable once more and he can sort it at his end. Searching the internet has only told me what to do on the senders phone.
Thanks

There won't be anything you can do on your end except block his number entirely. It is just like any other text to your phone. It sounds like you may have an iphone, in which case, here are instructions. If it's an android, just google your phone model and how to block a number.
[support.apple.com]
Bear in mind if you do this, you won't be able to receive any texts from that number until you unblock it. You'd have to check if it blocked calls too, or if you can select which or both.

What a horrible experience, Ali! If his phone is still damp, the classic recommendation is to leave it in a bowl of uncooked rice, but apparently tests have shown that in fact rice is less effective than simply air drying the phone (in front of a fan is ideal). I strongly suggest he doesn't put it in the sun again though! It sounds like a good idea, but heat and moisture are a very bad combination in electronics.

Lots of rice is apparently helpful too. Put the phone in a container and add lots of rice.
