We have just come home from visiting my sister who will be 86 next week. She is very peppy, works on call, is out in her car most days, keeps a lovely garden and is a great housekeeper.
However......she refuses to acknowledge she needs a hearing aid. Everyone has tried but she won't listen (In more ways than one)! I am exhausted from pushing out my words loud enough for her to hear.
I am at a loss because hearing aids are so discreet these days, unlike when our father had one that sat in his pocket with a cord that ran up to the ear piece. It would whistle and crackle - much to the embarrassment of us younger children.
Why are some people so stubborn at times!

For someone who has worn hearing aids for over 3 years now, they are just incredible pieces of equipment.
I still get frustrated when people don't speak to my face, in fact I find it the height of ill manners.
I had a staff member for some years who was very deaf, and I learnt to speak to her face, never behind her back or at her side.
I find it a very respectful thing to do, no matter whether someone is hearing impaired or not.
I would suggest you speak to the person in your regular tone, without getting cross or shouting.
If everyone who has contact with this person does the same, they may get the message.
Some places offer free hearing checks. Maybe pick up a couple of brochures and leave them somewhere to be found.
Be assured if the stubborn person does get hearing aids they might need assistance with cleaning and battery replacement.
And if they do, it will change their lives.
All the very best

My mother did the same for about 3 years until finally I made the appointment and drove her there. We were so sick of her not hearing anything we said.
She had her hearing test and they decided to also syringe her ears out and she walked out of the clinic hearing perfectly!
3 years of not hearing a thing back to normal hearing! So ridiculous.
