I made a huge batch of pikelets and while the mixture was resting before cooking I whipped up some lemon and lime curd.
Took them over to the neighbours for morning tea and watched with delight as they disappeared flat out! The teenage boys of the household politely waited until the grown ups had enjoyed several, then they just woofed down what was left.
So happiness for me this morning was clean plates to bring home.....

I bought myself a Karcher water blaster for Christmas. I have never used one before. They are scary things that make a lot of wet noise, but, everyone should have one. Got it home in its big box thinking I’d just open it and give everywhere a much needed blasting only find I had to assemble it first. The Captain would not have believed his wife capable of doing such a thing, but after half a day had vanished into thin air I had it going. Sort of. My joy was magnified to incandescent levels.
First attempt it all blew apart again when the water pressure built up and the hose came off and little bits flew everywhere. Oh surely they weren’t needed! It appears not, because once I squeezed the trigger and let the water out, hideous sound bytes emanating from the yellow beast, clean things began appearing like magic all around me. Pavings, walls, windows. I even managed to blow the mint tub into oblivion.
Okay, so the left wheel is a little wonky and the machine lies down on one side more than it should, bits keep falling off the side - but only because there is nowhere for me to play God with my long nosed Philip’s screwdriver there; and there is a pointy mesh thing that rocketed up to the sky and back to earth during one of the blast offs. No idea where that should go or even if it's from the machine.
If I’d previously known man toys were so much fun I may have put in a request at the time of my conception for a pair knobbly things lower down.
Happiness is finding I can do something I never thought myself capable of.

Crikey Kone, well done and I know what you mean - well half of it. I asked for a water blaster once, as a present, not really expecting it to even materialise, and my mind's eye imagining one of those little dinky-di things about the size of a vacuum cleaner. Husband, being a man, had other imaginings obviously (never the twain shall meet) and presented me with an industrial-sized behemoth that takes up all the space in our shed like a lurking tyrannosaurus rex. But I have to say, it didn't require assembling and if it did, he'd have had to do it himself. I can barely start the b.... thing - in fact, I can't. When I hold the water jet handle thingy I have to brace myself for the kickback (imagine one of those cannon ball firing thingys that they light and then yell STAND BACK!) otherwise I'd fall over and by the time I've cleaned whatever I'm cleaning, my hands and arms feel like they've done 10 rounds of world wrestling championships. But it does clean things very nicely.....

My arms have toned up considerably in two days J1. Could be the new thing in exercise equipment. My next challenge is the chainsaw I've recently discovered. It is a pretty neon yellow with purple trim and has a tank full when shaken. Yes. I rather fancy myself out there under the trees with my neon hard hat, viz vest, goggles and manly boots.

Well, heaven forbid, but I've been wielding one of those now and again in the last six months too for a friend recommended a battery operated one which yet manages to cut like butter through thick trunks. This one! [www.makita.co.nz] It's marvelous. I have to put all my bravery eggs in one basket and all my health and safety inklings sternly acknowledged but then heyho carefully I go. I do use it as little as possible but now and again the knowledge that it will cut through something in 15 seconds that would otherwise have me sawing manually back and forth for 15 minutes is too tempting.

Dear Lynn,
You and your husband are just drop dead gorgeous and wonderful, but I've been experimenting and slowly coming to grips and gripes with the beast. For one thing, you have to turn it on. It works even when it isn't turned on because of the hose pressure.I managed to clean the car without any electrical input. Very confusing. The hose pressure somehow did it but it wasn't what you'd have expected. By that time I was going to take it back to Bunnings and kick up a stink. Then I found that it wasn't plugged in. Thank God it's only me who lives here to witness my dumbo times. I don't go to visit my husband every day now so have time for friends if you want a coffee like we used to do.

For me, happiness this day is when you are with your loved ones.
We are going to marry this year. We are beginning to look at venues, bridal show invitations we made a first draft of the guest list that we need to discuss with our family. We have our best man and maid of honor. We have a rough idea of the budget. It's beginning to feel real!

Thanks Chris, aside from the pooping and wee-ing, she is a darling wee thing.
Ed is completely in love with her and she with him.
She was to be Freddie's puppy but as Ed is working from home at present they have well and truly bonded.
She is Lowchen Poodle x.

The avocados were amazing. I had bought 50 green avocados of which I chilled about half for the days leading up to us going. When we arrived I had about 6 ripe fruit out of the non refrigerated fruit and then over the week they gradually ripened. We did have to buy extra for guacamole on the second night as I didn't have enough ripe but otherwise they were great.
I had menus planned and ingredients bought although didn't count on a 7 hour power cut when we had 12 legs of lamb that had just started to cook when the power went off! Thank goodness I remember another camp close by that had gas ovens, it happened to be empty and they let us use them.
