I have just purchased "SALT, FAT, ACID, HEAT mastering the elements of good cooking, author Samin Nosrat. I glanced through this book whilst in England last year, as an amateur cook just the glances I had convinced me to buy it, but I had forgotten the name and author, until it popped up as a book review. Purchased at Whit…...s. Am looking forward to discovering more about the science of cooking.

I resisted for a long time, Annie, but then I thought 'as a pensioner, I pay $10 each time I want to see a film at our local cinema.Netflix is $11.99 for a monthly subscription and it's got far more than just films'. so I joined up. While I don't watch it a lot, I check the new programmes each month and there's always at least three or four I want to watch, sometimes more, and there are items that remain on Netflix for months. One such is Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. It's been on Netflix for quite some time now.

I have the book sitting on my shelf and haven't as yet dedicated time to it, I know I absolutely need to.
This is a timely reminder.
I see the book is available at Mighty Ape - Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat.

Every now and then the USA excels itself with some shows. Comedy wise Schitts Creek and Grace and Frankie are real laughs. Drama wise who can go past Breaking Bad and now Better Call Saul which goes into the history of characters pre Breaking Bad. Although not too sure if Better Call Saul is on Netflix? We watch it on Lightbox which is coming under the Neon banner next month

I don't think so. From the introduction:
"...there are only four basic factors that determine how good your food will taste: salt, which enhances flavour; fat, which amplifies flavour and makes appealing textures possible; acid, which brightens and balances; and heat, which ultimately determines the texture of food. "
Moisture is a vehicle for these.

Irene I got half way through the Breaking Bad series and then had to stop. I couldn't cope with the destructive behaviour and the graphic content.
It wouldn't have helped that we watched it late in the evening. Ugh.
Schitts Creek I am enjoying although as I watch from my laptop I do skip some of the scenes that I find a bit cringe.

This is the cover of my copy, hardback. I didn't pay that much though!
Book Depository usually has the best prices, and they will say if it is hardback or paper cover. The different covers may be for different markets.
