In their last sale, Briscoes had memory foam mattress toppers reduced by 60%. Deciding to take a $275 gamble, we bought one for our bed. 3 nights later and I am a complete convert. Our bed is now so comfortable and I don’t wake in the night with any sore spots.
So very happy.

Marylew, I too wake with a sore hip, well used to but not now.
This is the one that we bought Memory Foam Mattress Topper
I paid $275 on sale.
They zip over your mattress so there is no change of it slipping.

I have bought the same type as Helen. I looked on the Briscoes website and went into the local branch. They were out of stock and after a Q & A session, plus showing the advert on my phone, the assistant said there were very few left. I came home, went online and ordered it. Within two days it arrived.
Our mattress is quite high and now it is higher . I could really do with some longer legs.

Just a couple of points if anyone's thinking of buying one (someone in my family has had memory foam mattresses for more then twenty years): memory foam is quite hot, so if you get hot at night esp in summer it's something to bear in mind. Also, if it's very cold, it goes completely hard, like a brick! It "thaws" when you lie on it but it can be a bit disconcerting. An electric blanket is a good solution.

with regard to the added height with the topper in place have any of you ladies found youve needed too to buy new (larger sheets).
Im watching this post with interest as think I will get a topper as Helen has described - I sleep in a Queen size bed & the fitted sheets tuck in (just) on both sides - but move during the night of course needing me to make my bed properly (yes, Mum) not just pull it up.
So wondering then if I should invest in some King size sheets too. Many thanks

Buying the next size up sheets potentially won’t fix your problem. You need to look for sheets that are deeper.
A few years back sheets were 38cm deep as mattresses were thinner, and then went up to 40 & 45cm. Now it is reasonably easy to get sheets with a 50cm drop. Many mattresses need at least that depth. Measure the mattress depth including any toppers you have added and then work out the best depth that will allow some tuck-in.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a 60cm drop fitted sheet which gives enough to tuck under. Unfortunately they weren’t exactly generous in the making if it and it was exceedingly tight to put on. At least it doesn’t ride up now.

Our bed is Queen size and the linen we already had works fine.
Good point though, Chris, as I am sure the linen I would have bought several years ago would not now fit, specially with our higher mattress, plus the topper pad. I don't buy any particular brand of linen but I always read the sizes. I have found the same thing with standard pillow cases and some of our pillows.
