We had an outdoor meal with medical friends who are not rural but in the middle of Auckland and share you concerns Griz. One of them had been chatting to an Oncologist friend who is normally positive but now feeling devastated that the patients they won't be able to effectively treat.
Thankfully we were eating outside in low light so no one would have noticed the tears welling in my eyes.
This thread did move away completely from what I started it out to be which was more of a welfare check and a little bit of humour with it.
I plan to make the most of the freedoms we are currently experiencing, we have friends coming for an outdoor lunch tomorrow and another friend coming to sit outside today.
In the feeling that we may be here for the long run, I have set some boundaries for myself. We are all vaccinated in our family so I have moved on from that.
As well as a Covid news free bedroom I have restricted my news reading to RNZ which on the whole is less sensational, although I did miss the more gossipy news item re the Covid person in Northland being a sex worker who has refused to identify her clients...
My friends are also aware that we don't want our precious conversations dominated by doom and gloom so are making sure we focus on other things.
Wishing you a happy weekend!
