Ohhhhh did the earth just move for anyone else?
I'm in Dunedin and we just got a good roll on!

hmmmhmmm the earth sure did move for me in Wanaka - things flying off the shelves! We live in a fairly old two storey house and the whole thing just swayed!

I'm sorry for you Mainlanders, I just hate the shake, rattle and rolls!

Yup, you did get a shake rattle and roll. This was reported in our local newspaper today (wednesday)

An offshore earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 shook much of New Zealand's South Island yesterday but emergency services said there were no immediate reports of injury or significant damage.
The quake hit at 9.26am 240km south west of the tourist and farming town of Te Anau and was 33km below the earth's surface.

this is a very interesting link on Stuff.co.nz today re an email circulating on earthquake survival strategies that is doing the rounds. I have received this email twice in the last week, and thought it made sense - but it is a load of hogwash!!!
