Has anyone read any good novels lately.
I would love suggestions for some good easy reading for the summer holidays (not cookbooks this time).

Mrs Kimble was a book I enjoyed.
Jennifer Haigh I think is the author.

"The Piano Shop on the Left Bank" by T F Carhart
"The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger
"When I Was Five I Killed Myself" by Howard Buten
"La Prisonniere - 20 Years in a Desert Gaol" by Malika Oufkir and Michele Fitoussi
"Crawling at Night" by Nani Power
"Complications - A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science" by Atul Gawande
"Te Araroa - The NZ Trail" by Geoff Chapple
"Shopping for Buddhas" by Jeff Greenwald
"The Blind Assassin" by Margaret Atwood
"The Orchid Thief" by Susan Orlean
"A Primate's Memoir - Love, Death and Baboons in East Africa" by Robert M Sapolsky
"Castaway" by Lucy Irvine
"Drive Thru America" by Sean Condon
"Golden Deeds" by Catherine Chidgey

and more...

Happy reading.
I'm keen to read "the Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown - I've bought it for Rob for Christmas (:} - he'll love it too!) to go with his pressie.
Found it on special at Whitcoulls for $10 so couldn't pass up that bargain!

Cheers, Wilm
I really enjoyed the "No.1 Ladies Detective Agency" (and all of the series that follows) by Alexander McCall Smith.
Some people might not consider this to be relaxing reading, but... this year I have discovered Michael King, and have enjoyed some of his writing. A good starting point is his book, Tread Softly for you tread on my life. It is a collection of essays he has written about quite a variety of things, and is a good introduction to his writing.
Touch, and Morgan's Run, by Colleen McCullough.
Any of JOanne Harris', Chocolat, Five Quarters of the Orange, etc.
Anita Schreve... quite light reading.
Hope you enjoy whatever you settle on.
My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult
The Northern Lights Trilogy by Phillip Pullman is wonderful. For something light and delightfully funny try "Parrot Parfait" by New Zealander Sue Emms. Others I have ready lately and enjoyed are: Time Travellers Wife, Middlesex, I Don't Know How She Does It, Da Vinci Code, Eragon and one of my all time favourites "Pillars of the Earth".
