House on Market December 28, 2004 09:13PM |
Im fed up already and its only just the start. Land Agent convinced us to put the house on the market now to catch overseas buyers. House went in the Property Press and 3 people have already come through with the first one giving us an offer. We turned it down as its the first person. Today I have a couple coming through for the 3rd time at 10am. I have a houseful staying and trying to get everyone up, dressed, breakfasted and showered is a nightmare. I still have to vacumn the house, convince everyone to go out and to make matters worse I never slept a wink and am so tired.

There's nothing worse than having your house on the market for trying to keep it up to scratch, I have heard that when ones house has that looked in look it more often sells, I don't know why. They must be keen to keep coming back but my biggest advice before you sell, please, please look on the market to see what is available for you to buy at the price you want to spend it is often not worth it if you don't sell to improve your situation or to get the type of home you are seeking , it's often better to stay put. If you can afford it buy now without selling & sit on that property (rent it of course) & sell your house later on when the prices are higher & you would have already bought the rental at todays prices. I wonder if I am making sense. Do your homework first, the land agent is still only out to make a living so don't be tempted by his/her selling talk. Your the one stuck with it.

Lorna, I hate to say it but you are one of the few and I have had many friends working in RE over the years who are now out of it because they couldn't stand "the life" and what they had to do to make money.
Alot depends on the company you work for.
I sold my Mother's house in Hawkes Bay with a reputable agent but I had alot of trouble with one of them (had a share in the business and was management) of trying to get us to auction it, trying to buy it before I had my open home and telling me I would get almost $100,000 less than I did get. I stuck with the lovely female agent from that company and she was brilliant so I guess you good people are out there but you are few and far between ~ believe me.:/
