Nothing like food at all but... January 07, 2005 04:17AM |
I have a spare bedroom with a king size bed in it mainly with adults in mind, I want to know what do people put on their dressing table when the room is usually unoccupied to make it look pretty & inviting. I remember my mother having doilies with perfume bottles & jewellery containers on her table but I don't want that also I had mine like that & a burglar climbed into our bedroom one night & took it I feel if it was out of sight he wouldn't have taken it. Would like modern ideas please.

I have a silk arrangement of flowers that compliments the colour of the room, a beautiful cross stitch that says "The path to a friend house is never long". When I have visitors coming I always put a "Dream" chocolate bar on the pillow, and colour co-ordinated towels and face cloths nicely folded on the end of the bed.
Always air the room well and the bed, and leave a blanket out incase of a cool night, on the bedroom chair.
Try and put fresh roses in the bedroom too on the morning my guests are to arrive.
My eldest sister just loves being spoilt in this way, and yet it is no trouble. I am just so glad she feels soooooo welcome.

Lyn, I prepare a little basket of toiletries also. As well as soap, shampoo, etc, I put in a little pot of lip balm, cotton buds and cotton wool (I use the ones individually packaged in cellophane), those miniature tubes of toothpaste that you get on the plane (Ian, Trent and I use one of them and I save the rest!), dental floss, etc. Also have a box of tissues - they always get used. I have mine in a nice tissue box holder. A scented candle or an oil burner is nice too.
