Mackenzie Salmon and Wine Festival January 26, 2005 01:46AM |
Anyone planning to go? It's in Twizel this Saturday. We are planning to go to have a look. It will be a nice family day out - as long as the weather holds. We went to Woolly Munchers in the rain which wasn't fun.
How long will it take to get to Twizel from Ashburton? About 2 hours? I am hoping to pick up some berry fruit for jams on the way. Can anyone recommend any good places?

Now my Geography skills (or lack of) may show. :} Is that near Geraldine? Have heard the Barkers fruit place is a great place to visit and buy stuff from their shop there. Not sure if they sell the fruit directly to the public, though.
Enjoy your day out, anyway. Nice to discover new places.
Linda.

Hello Ali,
There is a place just before the turn-off to Waimate (South of Timaru) that was advertising fruit and berries when I came through last week. It is on the right hand side when travelling south, and I think it is called The Berry Barn.
It looks lovely, also has a cafe. Haven't managed to stop there yet - either I am on the bus, or hubby "doesn't want to stop at the moment as we are almost to Oamaru"
Enjoy the festival.
