Hiccuping baby

Although they are disinclined to drink when they are hiccuping if you can get them to suck then the hiccups are gone in less than a minute.
I have personally tried this in the last few weeks and yes it did work.
My midwife tends to think that hiccups shouldn't normally distress babies, it is something they often do in the womb as well, so perhaps you should also ask your leading maternity carer.

Anybody remember Dinnefords?? Is it still used today? If I ran out of Dinnefords, I would crush half a mild peppermint then dissolve it in hot water, allow it to cool and give a teaspoonful to the baby. Worked every time. Just make sure the peppermint isn't too strong, and the water is only just blood heat.
